DappCon23 Review

Safe kicked the week off with their inaugural conference, Safe{CON} focused on accelerating the transition to smart accounts. Gnosis Core Dev, Philippe Schommers gave a talk about the future of Gnosis Chain. Gnosis Co-Founder, Stefan George sat on a panel to discuss the challenges of account abstraction. The day long event primed everyones appetite for the entree of the week ~ DappCon 2023.

This year the theme of usability and adoption figured center stage. If web3 is to onboard the next billion, user experience needs to be a top priority. Stand out presentations from Gnosis Pay and Monerium hit on the theme with talks about the disruptive web3 stack poised to refigure how we transact with each other. Gnosis Pay is certified by Visa to be accepted by 80+ million merchants worldwide, bringing your digital assets into the traditional economy.

Monerium's EURe is a euro e-money token that is recognized as a digital alternative to cash. It is backed one-to-one and redeemable on demand. EURe is an ERC20 token compatible with the Ethereum, Polygon, and Gnosis networks. EURe even comes with an IBAN, Europe’s equivalent of a SWIFT code. Powered by Gnosis Pay and a Safe wallet connected to an IBAN, users can seamlessly go from offchain fiat in the bank system, to onchain fiat with the EURe on Gnosis Chain with incredibly competitive fees.

The theme of usability also touched on the importance of building tools that have impact. Throughout the week, DappCon participants spoke about web3 as an opportunity to create principled technology that puts people first. Gnosis Co-Founder, Martin Koeppelmann emphasized the theme with his talk about CirclesUBI, a blockchain-based technology providing digital Universal Basic Income.

Gnosis also gave a talk about Hashi and the future of bridges on Gnosis Chain. Hashi is an EVM Hash Oracle Aggregator, designed to facilitate a principled approach to cross-chain bridge security. Along with the newly integrated zk light client on Gnosis Chain's Omnibridge, Hashi brings critical innovations to bridge security.

Lead Core Developer, Dapplion talked about turning Gnosis Chain into a Layer 2 to increase the security of the network.

Gnosis is building, doing what it does best. The rest of the conference featured talks from teams and developers creating the future of the internet. It was a humbling experience to be surrounded by so many incredibly talented professionals from the Ethereum ecosystem.
