💻 Gnosis Chain Core Update: Balancer Hard Fork

Action Required for Node Operators: Gnosis Chain has released the necessary client software updates for a hard fork intended to enable a return of funds to users affected by the recent Balancer exploit.

  • Action: Node operators must execute this hard fork to participate in the network update.
  • Deadline: Operators have until December 22, 16:00 UTC to update their clients.

This action is part of the ongoing effort to minimize the impact of the multi-chain Balancer security incident and stabilize the ecosystem.

🛠️ Circles Mini-Apps Debut: The Open Internet Club Launches New Features

This week, the @openinternetclb (OIC), a community dedicated to building an internet you own, unveiled the first user-friendly Mini Apps on the Circles protocol.

Circles, which runs on Gnosis Chain, is a unique human-centric currency protocol where every person issues their own money (1 CRC per hour), forming a web of trust. The OIC is actively leveraging the Circles SDK to create novel applications that extend its utility.

Mini Apps in Action

The debut mini-apps built by the OIC demonstrate the power of combining community currency with social features:

  • Pay-to-Post Social Feed: Creating a value-exchange model for content.
  • Tip OIC Members: Enabling easy, direct payments within the community.
  • Trust Hunt: A gamified way to build and expand the essential Circles web of trust.

🎁 Understanding the New CRC Cashback in Gnosis App

Rewards Program Transition: GNO to Circles (CRC)

As users migrate from Metri to the new Gnosis App, a key change is the transition from GNO rewards to a new CRC-based cashback program. This update integrates the community-focused Circles currency directly into your spending experience.

  • Reward Currency: Rewards are now paid weekly in Circles (CRC), which you can use directly in the Gnosis App marketplace or redeem via the Circles page.
  • Old Reward Currency: The previous rewards were paid in GNO.

How the New CRC Cashback is Calculated

The reward rate is now based on the amount of GNO held in your Gnosis App Safe.

  • Reward Rate: You can earn between 1 CRC up to 5 CRC per €1 spent.
  • Key Requirement: To qualify for the rewards tiers, your GNO must be held in your Gnosis App Safe. GNO held in the Gnosis Pay Safe no longer counts toward the cashback tiers.

Important Migration Reminders

Please be aware of these crucial changes during your transition:

  • One-Way Switch: Migrating means accepting the new CRC rewards program. This switch is one-way, and you cannot revert to the old GNO cashback system.
  • OG NFT Bonus: The previous OG NFT bonus does not apply to the new CRC rewards structure.
  • Purpose: The new system establishes a more transparent link between your spending and your GNO balance, while actively bringing the value of the Circles community currency into the Gnosis App.

🏛️ GnosisDAO Updates ~ December 2025

The GnosisDAO community has successfully voted to secure a crucial piece of ecosystem infrastructure for another year and futarchy makes a potential comeback.

GIP-144 Passed: Blockscout Renewal

GIP-144, the proposal to support an annual renewal for Blockscout's Service Level Agreement (SLA) and hosting from January 2026 – December 2026, has officially passed on Snapshot.

This decision ensures that Gnosis Chain retains its dedicated, open-source block explorer—a critical service for transparency, developer tools, and overall ecosystem viability.

🔮 GIP-145: Advisory Futarchy Pilot Proposed on Gnosis Chain

The GnosisDAO is considering a cutting-edge proposal that leverages its foundational technology, the Conditional Token Framework (CTF), to bring a futarchy pilot to governance.

GIP-145 proposes a 9-month advisory futarchy pilot, run by Futarchy Labs, to estimate the impact of governance proposals on the GNO token price using prediction markets.

  • What is Futarchy? Futarchy is a form of governance that uses prediction markets to determine which proposals will have the most positive effect on a defined metric. The slogan is: "Vote on values, but bet on beliefs."
  • The Pilot Goal: Futarchy Labs will create conditional markets on Gnosis Chain using the CTF. A small widget will appear on official Snapshot proposals, displaying the predicted price impact (YES vs. NO) of the proposal. This signal is advisory only and is designed to provide deeper, market-driven intelligence to voters.
  • The Ask: The pilot requests a temporary allocation of $100,000 USD equivalent in GNO and WETH, to be used exclusively for providing minimal liquidity to these conditional markets, and which will be returned after the 9-month period.

GnosisDAO would be among the first large DAOs to formally adopt a futarchy experiment, continuing its pioneering role in decentralized governance innovation.
