🦉Gnosis Weekly Recap ~ 29 May 2025

After last week’s landmark launch of Circles V2 and the Metri wallet, the movement for trust-based money stepped onto the global stage at ETH Prague. Gnosis co-founder Friederike Ernst and the Circles team shared their vision for a multipolar world—where anyone can issue money rooted in social trust, not institutional control. From community breakfasts to fireside chats and hackathon bounties, Circles showcased what it means to reimagine value in a world where money is a protocol—and we are the architects.

🌀 Circles at ETH Prague: Reimagining Money in a Multipolar World

At ETH Prague, Friederike Ernst gave a featured talk titled “In a multipolar world, let the people issue the money!”—an invitation to rethink value creation through community and coordination rather than rent-seeking and control.

Later in the week, during a fireside chat with ETHGlobal co-founder Kartik Talwar, Friederike delivered a memorable line:

“Money is a protocol and we are the architects. We as society can have a say on how the next version works—that's really powerful.”

Throughout the event, Circles also hosted:

  • 🥐 A community breakfast and onboarding session
  • 🧠 A technical talk on fraud prevention for smart wallets by Peter Jung from Gnosis AI
  • 🛡️ A session at the Web3 Privacy meetup with Paul Boes
  • 👩‍💻 A weekend hackathon inviting builders to create on Circles V2 and win bounties

Circles V2 proves that value can emerge from relationships, not centralized gatekeepers. With Metri, anyone can start issuing money rooted in trust—in just minutes.

📜 Governance Update: GIP-99 Rejected

GIP-99, a proposal for Gnosis Guild to formally steward GnosisDAO governance, was rejected this week on Snapshot.

🗳 Result:

  • ❌ 55.74% Against
  • ✅ 44.26% For
  • ⚪️ 0% Abstain

The proposal outlined a two-year workstream to improve governance infrastructure, introduce novel funding mechanisms, and decentralize DAO processes. It also included a 3-month trial phase focused on delegation features and a new treasury dashboard.

While the vote did not pass, the discussion reflects growing interest in evolving how GnosisDAO governs itself.

🗳️ Snapshot Voting: GIP-108 Nearing Conclusion

Voting is set to close on GIP-108, a proposal regarding the original GnosisVIP validator rewards.

The proposal asks whether GnosisDAO should honor the initial GnosisVIP reward structure as it was originally communicated, prior to a later adjustment that reduced the rewards and delayed distribution. It emphasizes that the current vote does not apply to duplicate nodes sharing the same withdrawal address.

GIP-108 is distinct from GIP-106, which proposed reinstating rewards for such duplicate nodes.

🕒 Voting closes: May 30, 2025

🛡️ Safe Watch Agent: Onchain Security for the Sovereign Web

Built by the Gnosis AI team, Safe Watch Agent is a new fraud detection tool for Safe wallets on Gnosis Chain and Ethereum. Acting as a smart co-signer, it uses AI and onchain data to flag—and block—malicious transactions before they’re executed.

From suspicious transfers and blacklisted addresses to social engineering patterns, Safe Watch brings intelligent, proactive security directly into the hands of users, developers, and DAOs—without compromising self-custody.

🧪 The live demo launches tomorrow — stay tuned!
🔧 Integration options include an API and a self-hostable agent

Security in Gnosis 3.0 isn’t passive. It’s user-aligned, open-source, and agent-powered—thanks to the work of the Gnosis AI team.

🔧 Validator Consolidation Made Simple

With the recent Pectra hard fork raising the maximum effective balance to 64 GNO per validator, the Gnosis community has been exploring ways to consolidate and optimize validator performance.

To support this, the Gnosis team has launched a new Consolidation UI:

Key features include:

  • Upgrade & Consolidate: Easily upgrade legacy 0x01 validators to 0x02 and merge multiple validators into fewer, higher-capacity ones
  • Execution Layer Withdrawals: Trigger withdrawals and exits directly from the execution layer
  • Batch Transactions: Use Safe or Metamask (via EIP-7702) to batch actions
  • New Validator Support: Works with new validators after the 256-epoch wait

More features—like integrated deposit management—are on the way.
